The Benefits of Exercise

Your spine and your skeleton are held in place by connective tissue and moved by muscles. Imbalances in these muscles, loss of tone, weakness and/or tightness produce unbalanced forces that upset the proper alignment of your body. This leads to many problems and symptoms. Exercise is important to rebalance the body so it can perform at its best in the world you live in.

Many studies have reported the importance of exercises in managing acute and chronic low back pain, strengthening the low back, preventing future injuries, and keeping patients working, while improving quality of life. The strength and flexibility of the core muscles of the body, which includes back and abdominal muscles, was found to differentiate between those with versus those without chronic low back pain.

Our necks are on constant unbalanced muscle pressure with using cellphones, iPads, computer, and desk work. This leads to headaches, neck pain, jaw pain, and respiratory problems. Chiropractic treatment helps reduce neck bone imbalances, but exercise is vital to support the neck against the constant head forward pressures of your lifestyle and maintain the spinal alignment after chiropractic adjustments.

Exercise comprises Strengthening, Stretching, Aerobic, Endurance and Balance training. Forms of each should be part of your weekly lifestyle. Many exercises can be incorporated into your daily activities in your own home and at work. We teach our patients exercises that are customized just for them, to help with their unique problem. This can improve the effectiveness of your spinal correction by as much as 30-40%.

Everyone’s lifestyle is challenging their body daily, unbalancing their spine and skeletal structure. Chiropractic treatment helps free the body for better alignment. Exercise is vitally important to maintain and hold that alignment.
